Thermalair awarded HVAC contract on $22 million dollar manufacturing plant in Irwindale!

I first met with the general superintendent who told me that this project will be ready for HVAC in about 3 weeks, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of July. I know its hard to believe if you look at these photos, but you should know that this new plant will be made of precast concrete, and the walls and roofs will go up quick.

150 Architectural Sheet Metal Workers Needed On LAX Project!!

If you didn't attend the last union meeting you missed out on some big news. I think everyone has heard about the huge project at LAX coming up. Announced at the last meeting was that a company called Crown Corr was awarded a very large portion of the architectural contract, and that the peak manpower estimate is 150 sheet metal workers.

Altmayer & Sons, is hanging duct at USC Health Science Building in Los Angeles!

 Altmayer & Sons is installing the core ductwork in a new 3 story building being constructed near USC Hospital in LA. The general superintendent told me that this phase of the project is just to build out the core & shell. The tenant improvement work is currently out to bid and I should know in 3 whos got it. ACCO & Altmayer & Sons both bid the project and it most likely will go union.

University Marelich Mechanical & Crowner Sheet Metal awarded contracts on LA City College project!

University Marelich Mechanical & Crowner Sheet Metal have been awarded contracts for the brand new Student Union Building that will be built on the campus of Los Angeles City College. This is a new 3 story $35.5 Million dollar construction project and will be located at the intersection of Monroe Street & New Hampshire Avenue in Los Angeles.

Atlas Sheet Metal Has Architecural Work At 2 Schools in South Pasadena!

I met with Atlas Sheet Metal Foreman (Russ Slayton) on Thursday who told me that he is 60% complete at Blair Magnet IB School, and only about 10% complete at S. Pasadena Middle School. Peak manpower estimate is 4 guys depending on progress of the projects.

Whittler-Young is hanging duct at Chandler Middle School in Pasadena Now!

I met with the Forman (Matt Moskovitz) running this job this past Thursday. Matt told me that he is just getting started with the rough-in on this project, and only he and a 5th yr. apprentice are on site working right now. His peak manpower estimate is 5-6 men.

Preferred Heating & Air Conditioning is hanging duct on 2 school projects, with a 3rd breaking ground soon!!

This is a $18 million dollar project. I was on the jobsite today and met with the Foreman (Jack Hawkins) from Preferred. He told me that he is about 60% roughed in on this job, and currently has 2 workers besides himself working on site. He has had a crew as large as 8 men working on site in the past. While I was on site Preferred received 2 truck loads of duct delivered from Orecco.

UPDATE: [ Weiss Sheet Metal & Southland HVAC working at Fire Station #82 in Hollywood!]

 I met with the Foreman (Don Colclasure) of Weiss Sheet Metal today at the job site. Don told me that the Superintendent (Jeff Simms) does all of the hiring of sheet metal workers for the company. Don also told me that installation of the aluminum panels could start any day now.

Weiss Sheet Metal & Southland HVAC working at Fire Station #82 in Hollywood!

I ran across this project while in route to another project in the area. This Fire Station was not in my database so running across it was pure luck. Weiss Sheet Metal was not on site when I was there this past Monday, but I was told by on of the general Superintendents that Weiss will be on site very soon (maybe as early as this week) to start installing aluminum panels to the exterior of the bldg.

Westland Heating & Air Conditioning/R & J Sheet Metal Awarded Contracts on Media Arts Building Project at LA Mission College!

 This is a $18.5 Million dollar project. I spoke with Westland Foreman (Chuck Rice) this past Friday who told me that this project is behind schedule. He has been on site inserting hanger strap and hopes to have duct hitting the job within a month. I haven't spoken to anyone from R&J Sheet Metal yet, but when I do I will post an update, so please subscribe to this blog to get the update automatically via email.

Sheldon Mechanical awarded HVAC contracts on 2 new LAUSD schools being built in the valley!

This is a $35.6 Million dollar new construction project that is in its early stages of development. I met with the Foreman (Trevor Notch) who is running this project who told me that this job is 5 months behind schedule.

DSG Mechanical Corp. & Cimco Sheet Metal awarded contracts at Bellingham Elementary School Project!

 I met with the Foreman of DSG Mechanical running this project (Art) ,who told me that he expects duct to start hitting the job in about 2 weeks. His peak manpower estimate is 6 men. There are 2 men, including the Foreman currently working on site inserting hanger strap.

Liberty Climate Control awarded HVAC at Los Angles City College Project!

 I recently spoke to Liberty Climate Control Superintendent Pete Adame who told me that this project will consists of 2 parts. (1) Modernization of the Life Sciences & Chemistry Buildings (2) New Construction of the Health, Fitness & PE Building. Total project value is 24 Million Dollars.

Southland Industries awarded HVAC at Mission College Project in Sylmar!

 I met with the Foreman (Scott Reipe) who is running this project for Southland today who told me that Southland should be manning up the job in mid January. Peak manpower estimate is 6-8 men.

AireMasters awarded HVAC at LAUSD Valley Region Span K-8 No.1 Project!

 I spoke with the Project Manager of Airemasters overseeing this job today. He told me that Airemasters isn't scheduled to start manning the job until March. A Foreman hasn't been chosen yet, but I was told that the Superintendent of Airemaster's (Glen Gracy) does all the hiring.  Peak manpower estimate is 10 to 12 men. The project is scheduled to be completed in April 2012.
