Preferred Heating & Air Conditioning is hanging duct on 2 school projects, with a 3rd breaking ground soon!!

This is a $18 million dollar project. I was on the jobsite today and met with the Foreman (Jack Hawkins) from Preferred. He told me that he is about 60% roughed in on this job, and currently has 2 workers besides himself working on site. He has had a crew as large as 8 men working on site in the past. While I was on site Preferred received 2 truck loads of duct delivered from Orecco.

This is an addition to an existing middle school. The name of the school is Luther Burbank Middle School. The Superintendent (Ron Oberlander) does all of the hiring of sheet metal workers for the company. Preferred has a beige storage container (un-marked) on site that is also being used as a field office. The general contractor for this project can be a dick, so if you go on site try to blend in like you belong there, and make sure you have safety gear on. All 3 are LAUSD projects, so local hire rules apply.

The architectural sheet metal on this project is awarded to Eberhard/SMC, a union contractor. They havent started working on site yet, but I was told that they will be delivering material this Thursday. I will try my best to be there to get some info from the Foreman at that time and post an update. The photos below were taken at the Luther Burbank Middle School project.  Preferred Heating & Air Conditioning is also hanging duct at Central Region Elementary School #14. This is a new school project that has also been going on for awhile. I met with project Foreman (Hose Gomez) who told me that he has 8 guys working on this project and its about 60% roughed in. The Superintendent (Ron Oberlander) is a hard guy to catch up with, but the last 2 times I visited this site he was there. All you have to do is sign at with security at the front gate and you should be able to get on site. Sorry but I don't have any photos of this school yet.  I just received information today that Preferred was awarded a the HVAC work on a new LAUSD $33 million dollar elementary school in my area that will be breaking ground in March. The name of that school will be Valley Region Elementary School #13. I will be posting updates as that project gets closer to manning up.

 With Preferred currently working on 2 projects in my area, and a third on the way, it just might be worth the effort to get in touch with Ron Oberlander to see if they will need help in the near future.
