Sheldon Mechanical awarded HVAC contracts on 2 new LAUSD schools being built in the valley!

Sheldon Mechanical has been awarded the HVAC on:

 Valley Region Span K-8 #2:

This is a $35.6 Million dollar new construction project that is in its early stages of development. I met with the Foreman (Trevor Notch) who is running this project who told me that this job is 5 months behind schedule.

Trevor is inserting hanger strap on the first floor of one of the five new buildings that will be built on this campus.Optimal peak manpower estimate is 8 men. The Foreman doesn't expect ductwork to start hitting the job for at least a month, depending on weather. The Foreman has a container on site that he also uses as his office.

This project falls under the terms of the PSA (Project Stabilization Agreement) negotiated with LAUSD and the 50% Local Resident Rule applies.

PSA–covered construction contracts require a minimum of 50 percent of a contractors' workforce by craft reside within the LAUSD Zip Code List.

This Zip Code List defines the general District residency area.

All of a contractors' "core employees"—as defined in PSA Section 3.6—must reside within the LAUSD general District residency area.

Sheldon Mechanical has also been awarded the HVAC on:

Valley Region Middle School #3:

I attended the construction start meeting for this project this past Thursday. This is a $40 Million dollar project and is scheduled to last 22 months start to finish. Grading and site utilities now in progress. It could take 4-5 months before Sheldon Mechanical starts working on site. Superintendent Bill White does all the hiring of sheet metal workers for the company. Both projects fall under the district's local hire provision so members living in district zip codes have an advantage of working on these projects.
